Another great day of speedway from
North Brisbane with a excellent crowd and great weather, not too hot and a
little breeze made it a comfortable summers day. In a fitting tribute for the
contribution to speedway by the Boocock family both in Australia and overseas,
Mr & Mrs Nigel Boocock where sent on a Grand Parade lap in a royal horse powered
coach.
Some great racing witnessed by a large saturday afternon crowd watched as the
meeting went right down too the last race of the day
Winners of the event
North Qld 44 Points
New South Wales 43 Points
International Young Guns 41 Points
Sth Qld 22
In the final heat of the day won by Josh Auty (UK), Josh Grajczonek (NQ)held on
for 2nd place ahead of Anthony Perks (NSW) to give the (NQ) 4 man side using

The teams came out, were introduced
to the crowd. It was the Peterborough Four Team tourney revisited! As Lance
said, guest of honour Nigel Boocock was feted before an appreciative audience
with he and wife Cynthia being taken on a horse and carriage ride around the
circuit to enthusiastic applause.
Josh Auty (Lions) had four untroubled wins and seemed unbeatable, possibly would
have been if he'd got to the tapes for his second ride (team manager Craig
Drenin).
That arguably cost them victory, but then the winners North Queensland (manager
Gary Davey) failed to utilise rider replacement in one ride. For them I thought
ring in Micheal Penfold(NSW) had class written all over him, most impressive.
Next best were Joe Haines (Lions), Richard Sweetman(NSW), Mitchell Davey(NQ) and
Alex Davies (NSW).
The best South Queensland boys (Tyson Nelson, Scott Smith) really knew they had
some hot competition on their hands, managing only a win each.
