Highlights were
- Proctor nearly going through the card unbeaten except for a mechanical problem
(a plug I think from memory) in heat 9 when he was in the lead but slowed to
finish third
- A James Holder pass on Mark Jones in heat 8 after stalking him for 3 laps
- Anderson's legitimate win over Woodward in Heat 15, it was certainly earned
and not gifted and was the best ride I have ever seen from Anderson. Jake really
did take a step up today. To say he was rather unhappy over his exclusion in the
final wouldn't be far from the mark although in fairness it was a horrible side
on angle for the referee had to judge from and usually the rider who goes down
gets the benefit of those close calls and this time it was Justin Sedgmen to get
the nod much to Andersons disgust.
"Lucky boy" award went to James Holder who about three times came out the pit
gate dangerously close to the 2 minutes after the 2 minute warning siren had
gone. In heat 11 Ryan Sedgmen and Jake Anderson were both motioning to the
referee asking what was going on and in that heat young Holder was extremely
fortunate to be allowed to take his place. The referee's patience must have been
very close to being sorely tested.
Disappointments
Doyle & Gathercole withdrawing. Enough said else I'll get banned.
Supports were 350 solo's and 250 sidecars. The 350 solos were brilliant, Robert
Medson and Sam Anderson were going at it hammer & tong all day. Apart from heat
1 where Anderson looped the bike at the start in all the other heats Anderson
gated with Medson in second. Anderson then rode mid track where as Medson
favoured a tighter line with eventually Medson finding a way through up the
inside each time but never much in it. It was super speedway. Braden Paver and
Brady Munro were the other 350's on display but all they could do was admire the
other two from a distance while they argued over 3rd and 4th.
The 250 sidecars were close with Simon Hartley narrowly winning three from three
ahead of Andrew Timmerman with the final heat being a very entertaining
handicap. I'll let our esteemed board owner and moderator (who had loads of fun
with a new passenger) fill you in on the details of the handicap !!
