Press Release re
Riverina Motor Cycle Long Track Cup
For immediate Release
Motor cycle track racing will return to the Yarragundry Park track near Wagga
Wagga on the upcoming Australia day weekend with organisers confirming that
the Riverina Long Track Cup meeting will be staged on Saturday, January 26.
Local identity Bob Sunderland, together with co-promoter Terry Poole, are
still receiving entries for what should be a program of great variety, with
one current and one former Australian long track champion among the entries to
date.
Solo and sidecar classes, three dirt track classes, two classes for old bikes
and junior classes will make up the program for the meeting which is expected
to commence late in the afternoon.
Southern Highlands rider Luke Gough has won the up to 450cc 4-stroke class at
the Australian Long Track Championship meeting for the past three years, so he
will obviously be hard to beat in his races at Yarragundry Park.
Dual Australian champion in the 500cc solo long track class, Craig Watson of
Sydney will make his first appearance at home this summer while having a brief
break before the start of the 2008 speedway season in the UK.
To acknowledge the great history of motor cycle sport in the Riverina area,
organisers are planning to introduce a former great to the crowd at each of
their upcoming meetings.
